
Scientists Rank Russian Regions by Climate Risk Levels
Researchers from HSE University and the Russian Academy of Sciences have assessed the levels of climate risks across Russian regions. Using five key climate risks—heatwaves, water stress, wildfires, extreme precipitation, and permafrost degradation—the scientists ranked the country’s regions according to their need for adaptation to climate change. Krasnoyarsk Krai, Irkutsk Region, and Sverdlovsk Region rank among the highest for four of the five climate risks considered. The study has been published in Science of the Total Environment.

Ruza Reboot: Legendary Camp Welcomes HSE Students and Staff
In the Moscow Region, HSE’s country complex located on the banks of the Ruza Reservoir and bearing the same name Ruza, has reopened its doors. Faculties and other university departments can now apply on the complex’s website (in Russian) to hold events there in September.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of HSE University's International Prep Year Programme. Over the past 10 years, approximately 2,000 international students have taken courses offered through the programme. At the core of their educational experience is the study of the Russian language, combined with subjects related to their future specialties, such as mathematics, computer science, literature, and history. In addition, students take part in interactive events organised by the programme. On July 12, 2025, Moscow’s first student raft regatta, RAFTDAY XSPORT, took place on the Skhodnya River. It was organised by XSPORT HSE Active Recreation Club with the support of the Sports Community Development Centre of HSE Corporate Academy, the HSE Department of Physical Education, SUP ACADEMIA store, and the Moscow Rafting Federation.
