Religious beliefs affect the way people seek and choose jobs. Adepts of certain religions tend to rely on their skills, others on their good looks, while still others count on knowing the right people, suggests a study by Ekaterina Alexandrova and Elena Kalabina.

Elites Change but the Regime will Live on

Authoritarianism has a future in Russia. In the next two decades, the 1980s generation will start to join the higher echelons of Russian society. But the situation is such that the change of generation of the elites will have little effect on the transformation of the political regime. Or so the authors of research on 'The Russian elite in 2020' have concluded.

The Top Applicants Continue to Choose Strong Universities

On September 5, 2013, at a press conference held at RIA Novosti, the results of a 2013 monitoring study on enrollment in state-funded places in Russian public universities were presented. The study was prepared by the HSE and RIA Novosti and commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation.

Two-hundredth Working Paper Published

A working paper is a form of preliminary publication that makes it possible to quickly present for discussion among the academic community the results of the latest research. On September 5, the HSE Basic Research Programme issued its 200th working paper.
